Born in the vibrant Yoruba town of Agege, Lagos, Nigeria,

Sheriff Bello was destined to carve out a unique path in the world of art.

Immersed in the natural beauty surrounding his hometown,

Sheriff developed a profound connection to the artistic world,

a connection that would defy societal norms where art was often undervalued.

From an early age, his passion for creativity and exploration was evident. His educational journey

began at State High School and continued at Ajibesin, where he honed his skills in sculptural arts.

Furthering his pursuit, Sheriff studied Fashion Design in Alubarika, diving deep into the intricate

world of textiles and fabrics.

A chance encounter with a friend crafting paper collages ignited Sheriffs passion for creative arts,

particularly in the medium of fabric collage. This transformative moment inspired him to self-learn

textile design, utilizing recycled fabric off-cuts.

Sheriffs dedication to sustainability, through the reuse of materials, reflects his deep-seated commitment
to environmental conservation and reducing pollution.

Artistic Evolution

Sheriffs professional journey is a tapestry woven with diverse experiences.

After obtaining his degree in Art, he embarked on a career as a full-time studio artist,

where he delved into multiple mediums but found his true calling in fabric collage.

Now residing in South Africa, Sheriffs artistic endeavours have expanded beyond national borders,

with his work gracing exhibitions throughout Africa.

Driven by an insatiable quest for excellence, Sheriff continually refines his craft,

exploring new ideas and techniques. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the founding of an alteration store,

a space where he also creates his magnificent artwork. Sheriff views his artistic journey as one where Nigeria

provided the fertile ground for ideas, while South Africa offered the opportunity to realize his dreams.
